February 25, 2023 Single-Use Plastics & Climate Change
Newtown Township Supervisor Elen Snyder began work on her "Single Use Plastics Resolution" in August 2021. As a result of her diligent advocacy, the resolution passed unanimously in 2022.
Ms. Snyder continues to urge Newtown to follow other townships – such as the Borough of Narberth, PA– in passing regulations that encourage or require businesses to reduce the usage of plastic materials, eliminate the use of Styrofoam, promote the use of reusable bags, and replace plastics with sustainable materials.
In this video, Ms. Snyder also speaks about the EAC’s recommendation to implement meadows in open spaces such as retention basins in order to counteract the impact of climate change on the pollution of our streams and lakes.
