Letters to the Editor: Dishonorable Mention and Promoting the Myth

Our members are hard at work making sure Newtown Democrats are represented in papers across the state. one of our favorite members, Deborah DiMicco’s latest letter “Dishonorable Mention” to the editor was published in The Philadelphia Inquirer.

“According to Trump, “we did more than any other country, by far,” and “nobody was close to us in terms of strength, bravery or military brilliance.” In one fell swoop, he glosses over our men and women who actually fought and brought about those victories, while simultaneously dishonoring and disrespecting all of our allies who fought and died valiantly defending their own soil.”

While Joe Sundeen of Yardley wrote “Promoting the Myth” by Joe Sundeen takes the media to task for enabling Trump’s efforts at distraction.

“Every time a news report, opinion piece, or letter to the editor appears with words describing Donald Trump’s actions and words as unprecedented, horrifying, law-defying, and such, the only effect is to make the myth of his power and invincibility stronger, and weaken all resolve to resist him.”
